The International Workshop on “Fractals and Multifractals from Theory to Practice: A Promising Domain for Efficient Hydro-Climate Modelling” was conducted from 15 to 17 December 2025 with the objective of bringing together researchers, academicians, and students to explore both the theoretical foundations and practical applications of fractal and multifractal analysis, particularly in the context of hydro-climate modelling. The program was jointly organised by:
- KSCSTE – Srinivasa Ramanujan Institute for Basic Sciences (SRIBS), Kottayam
- Department of Mathematics, TKM College of Arts and Science (TKMCAS), Kollam
- Department of Civil Engineering, TKM College of Engineering (TKMCE), Kollam
The workshop emphasized interdisciplinary dialogue between mathematics, physics, hydrology, and climate science, with a strong focus on translating abstract mathematical concepts into applied tools for real-world data analysis. The programme combined invited technical lectures with tutorial and laboratory sessions, enabling participants to gain conceptual clarity as well as hands-on exposure to contemporary methods in fractal and multifractal analysis.
The workshop witnessed the participation of 52 students and researchers, including BSc and MSc students from Mathematics and Physics, MTech students from Civil Engineering, and research scholars from related disciplines. The diverse academic background of the participants enriched the discussions and facilitated meaningful interdisciplinary interactions throughout the programme. The programme successfully enhanced participants’ understanding of fractal and multifractal methods and demonstrated their relevance in hydro-climate modelling and related areas. The event contributed meaningfully to capacity building in this emerging area and will encourage further research and applications in fractal-based modelling of complex natural systems.
