

The National Mathematics Day Celebrations 2025 were jointly organized by the Srinivasa Ramanujan Institute for Basic Sciences (SRIBS) and BCM College, Kottayam, on 22 December 2025 at the BCM College campus, commemorating the birth anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujan. The programme aimed to promote mathematical awareness and inspire students to appreciate the relevance of mathematics in modern science and research.
The event featured a Mathematics Quiz Competition, conducted by Dr. Liju Alex, Assistant Professor at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology (RIT), Pampady, which saw active participation from students of various colleges. MA College won the first prize, followed by St. Thomas College, Pala and Nirmala College, Muvattupuzha, securing the second and third prizes respectively.
An expert talk titled “From Ramanujan to Black Holes”, delivered by Dr. Sreejith M. M., Post-Doctoral Fellow at SRIBS, highlighted the deep and fascinating connections between Ramanujan’s ideas and contemporary theoretical physics. The programme concluded with a valedictory session and prize distribution, marking a meaningful celebration of mathematics and Ramanujan’s enduring legacy.
